Tirta Gangga was once a water park belonging to the Karangasem Kingdom, built by King Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem Agung in 1946. The name Tirta Gangga comes from the word "Tirta," meaning holy water, and "Gangga," which is the name of a sacred river in India.
From its name, it is meant that this tourist attraction has holy water originating from the Ganges River, as a form of respect to the Hindu community. Tirta Gangga is built on a 1.2-hectare land stretching from east to west in the rice field area. There are three buildings that dominate its character: statues, pond buildings, and plantation areas. All of these buildings have implicit meanings within them.
The natural condition of Tirta Gangga is very cool, due to its location at the foot of Mount Agung. The beauty and coolness of its location make tourists comfortable and willing to spend a long time visiting this tourist attraction. The peaceful and serene atmosphere of Tirta Gangga is very suitable for relaxing and relieving fatigue from exhausting daily activities.
Tirta Gangga Water Park is located in Ababi Village, Abang District, Karangasem Regency. It is located about 5 kilometers north of the center of Amlapura City. If traveling from Kuta, it is approximately 75 kilometers away with a travel time of about 2 hours.
